Dr. Shanae S. Jefferies is a dynamic scholar-practitioner with a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Texas, where she also pursued interdisciplinary studies in Workforce Development, Learning Technology, and Sociolinguistics. She currently serves as a Sociology Professor at Collin College while leading full-time in the field of healthcare market research and strategic insights.

With over a decade of experience in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Dr. Jefferies specializes in issues of social stratification and inequality—examining how systems of race, class, gender, age, and ability shape access to opportunity. Her research and professional work focus on workforce and labor discrimination, as well as qualitative methodologies that elevate lived experiences into actionable insights.

Dr. Jefferies is also a passionate advocate for mental health, therapy, and mindfulness, bringing a holistic and empathetic perspective to her work in both academia and industry. Originally from the military base Fort Cavazos, Texas, she is deeply rooted in her community and dedicated to fostering inclusive, equitable environments wherever she leads.

My journey has always been about weaving together the threads of scholarship, curiosity, and intention. By training, I’m an academic—but at heart, I’ve always been captivated by the deeper patterns that shape our lives. I’ve long been fascinated by human behavior, cultural shifts, and the "why" behind social trends. That passion led me to create Never Odd or Even—a platform where I merge market research with meaning, offering insights designed with the characteristics, needs, and nuances of the end user in mind.

From that foundation, I also created Dr. Awkward, a conversation card set born from my own experience navigating social spaces with curiosity and (yes) a touch of awkwardness. I’ve never been one for small talk, but I’ve always wanted to connect with people on a deeper level. Over time, I developed a set of thoughtful prompts that spark real conversation—questions I wish I’d had during so many beautifully uncomfortable moments. Now, I share them with others who crave connection that’s a little less surface and a little more soul.

While I’ve always loved teaching, I realized early in my academic career that the lifestyle I envisioned for myself—the freedom, the luxury, the abundance—would require something more. So I expanded my Radar, transitioning into the corporate sector where I could apply my research skills in new and fulfilling ways. That shift changed everything for me, and now I help others make that transition too. Whether you’re an academic looking for a new path or a professional craving more purpose, I offer guidance, strategy, and support to help you redefine what’s possible.

Everything I create is rooted in intention. I believe that curiosity can be cultivated, insight can be elegant, and every moment—awkward or not—holds the potential for connection and growth.  

I’ll be honest—spelling has always been a shortcoming of mine. So in a way that’s both playful and purposeful, I’ve named each of my products using palindromes: words that read the same forward and backward. While they may seem like random names at first glance, Never Odd or Even, Dr. Awkward, and Radar are each a quiet nod to self-awareness, balance, and finding beauty in imperfection.
